Our Social Dances
All of our social dances will focus on switch and steal, but everyone is welcome, so simply following or leading is always an option. We asked that you clarify for each and every dance "lead, follow, switch? To arrange a dance with steals we require that you get the consent of all of the people you want to switch between before the song starts. Please do not automatically start switching or stealing during a dance. One or two designated "Flow Times", as few as five songs or up to 30 minutes will be scheduled at every SwitchOn Northwest event.

“Flow Time”
*Flow Time” temporarily changes the rules and brings a little extra adventure for everyone on the dance floor. To keep yourself and others safe we ask that you take your time and stay within your skill level, especially for fast songs. See Our Levels You don't need to be able to initiate steals to have a blast; other dancers will steal you or your partner. “Flow Time”, anywhere from 5 songs to 30 minutes, will be scheduled in advance for one, or a number of times, at most of our social dance.
The beginning and end of the Flow Time will be announced by the M.C. or DJ. If you are on the dance floor during Flow Time, we will understand that you have agreed to participate in stealing for the designated Flow Time. As a reminder, at all other times, outside of Flow Time, it is essential to clarify "follow, lead, switch, or steal" at the start of each dance. During our regular social dance time please do not join an ongoing steal dance without explicit permission.

"Flow Times" will be both on the schedule and announced by the DJ when they begin and end. They will remind you that being out on the dance floor is your agreement to be open to stealing and switching during those five to ten songs, about 15 to 30 minutes is agreeing to be open to switch and steal with anyone else on the dance floor. Imagine agreeing to dance with everyone on the dance floor during that period! Our *Flow Time” has been directly borrowed from SwitchXperience Paris and Berlin (They call it “Madness”) Thank you Hélène! The Madness lights up the entire ballroom in a Flow, which is how we came up with the term. It feels like everyone is dancing together in one wonderful dance. Warning, it is highly addictive!
